Update 27th May 2022

Dear all,

Update 27th May 2022
Residents Engagement Survey Form deadline 31 May

https://forms.office.com/r/zrPm9vVTtQ

RA reps had a very constructive meeting about the Survey Form at which people recalled that FeCRA used to ask them for questions for the Residents Forum and submit these to the planners. This enabled FeCRA to let the planners know what RA reps considered key priorities to be so the Residents Forum could cover a range of issues, and focus on what residents were concerned about. Topics covered included parking, environment (trees/verges), air pollution and tourism as well as planning issues. The meetings were always well attended and felt to be constructive and interesting, an opportunity for community reps to share concerns about a variety of issues and obtain helpful information for their members.

Following the meeting Trumpington Residents Association survey form has been submitted. As it contains points important to them – and they think other residents’ associations – they have also sent Beverley Childs a copy (Beverley.Childs@greatercambridgeplanning.org ) and to FeCRA, for us to share with you.

Trumpington Residents’ Association – Completed Engagement Survey Form, May 2022

1.How useful do you find the Cambridge City Residents Association Forum in its current form.

On a scale of 0-10 please rate the following by circling (0 = not at all / poor, 10 = very / excellent)

3

2.At present we meet twice a year. How often would you like the Cambridge City Residents Association Forum to take place:

More Often – 3 times a year please

3.At present we meet from late afternoon/early evening, moving forward we would like to consider alternatives. Which would be the most suitable/convenient period for you:

PM – and see answer to question 5.

4.Since the pandemic, we hold the forum meetings virtually. We intend to

continue to hold these virtually and will be hosted by a member of the team

with the sessions recorded.

We appreciate any views you may have on this, it will help the service in allocation of resources moving forward.

Trumpington Residents’ Association:

We would like the meetings to be Face to Face please. Why? Please see our answer to question 5.

5.If we are to continue holding these meetings with a theme, what themes

would you like to see moving forward? Please note that at the moment there

are two standard agenda items, the Local Plan and Shared Service Update.

We appreciate any views you may have on this and where we can, will meet your requests.

Trumpington Residents’ Association:

The Association wants the Forum meetings to be organized in the way they used to be – with the agendas and questions provided by FeCRA on behalf of and with the active participation of all the Cambridge residents’ associations. So that it is a Forum for Residents’ Associations to speak to the City Council on the matters that matter to us – not, as it has become, matters which the City Council Shared Planning Service) chooses to present to us with relatively little time for discussion and questioning. It should NOT be confined to the Local Plan and planning matters, which is a Council set agenda not the

community set agenda we want. It should also be convenient for associations’ representatives who work – so early evening is preferred.

6.We are proposing to take questions at the meeting rather than before and if

a fuller response is required we will respond after the meeting, in a prescribed

timescale.

We appreciate any views you may have on this, it will help the service in allocation of resources moving forward.

See our answer to question 5. The residents’ associations through FeCRA should be setting the agenda and gathering the questions we want to ask with the expectation that there will be answers and relevant discussion at the meetings themselves.

7.Are there any other Council services you would like to include at these meetings?

We appreciate any views you may have on this.

See our answer to question 5.

8.Do you have suggestions on how we can improve this event even more moving forward?

We appreciate any views you may have on this.

Trumpington Residents’ Association:

We ASK that the next meeting of the Association is devoted to a discussion by the residents’ associations of what we want from the Forum going forward. We also ask that deadlines for responses are reasonable – not as short as the one for this survey, please.

9.We would like to hold these meetings based on a theme, demystifying the planning process, such as: Planning, Policy, Strategic Sites, Development Management, Application Support and Enforcement.

What themes would you like to see moving forward? Please note that at the

moment there are two standard agenda items, the Local Plan and Shared

Service Update.

We appreciate any views you may have on this.

Trumpington Residents’ Association: Please see our answer to question 5. And if you wish to “demystify” the planning process, we suggest the Shared Planning Service arranges bespoke sessions for that purpose outside the Residents’ Associations’ Forum.
